Acting on Ambition and Creative Flow: Reflections From the Make Shift Happen Podcast

July 17, 2024

Recently, I was listening Samantha Daily’s Podcast: Make Shift Happen and it left me inspired and contemplating all the ways that we have the power to shape our lives. The episode featured an intriguing discussion with Jon Hillstead, delving into topics ranging from manifesting money to embracing fierce authenticity and exploring quantum timelines. The conversation was rich with insights that resonated deeply with me.

In this blog post, I am going to go over a few of my favorite golden nuggets from the podcast episode and why I think each one is important.

The Journey Is the Healing

It is easy to fall into the trap of waiting until we feel completely ready before taking action. Whether it’s starting a new venture, showcasing our talents online, or simply stepping into our own confidence, there’s a paralyzing belief that we must first heal or perfect ourselves before moving forward. However, the healing actually happens in the very act of doing.

It’s through doing, through showing up consistently, through practicing, and through facing challenges—that we heal and grow.

Imagine a musician hesitant to perform until they’ve mastered every note perfectly. The reality is, true mastery and confidence are honed in the act of performing, in facing the nerves, and in learning from each rendition.

For those who feel paralyzed by the sense of unreadiness, remember this: readiness often emerges as a byproduct of action. You’re not ready because you haven’t started yet. The path to confidence, competence, and fulfillment begins with that first step.

Nothing truly gets easier without practice, without those initial moments of uncertainty and learning. The discomfort we feel at the start is natural, it’s an indicator of growth waiting to unfold.

Acting on Ambition and Inspiration

Perhaps the most empowering message from the podcast was the reminder that acting on our ambitions and inspirations is where the true magic lies. Jon talked about how his favorite way to generate content is on a whim and when he feels inspired and this is actually the exact way I approach my own marketing strategies.

I know that planning and strategizing is important for marketing and content creation, but I often find myself taking a back seat approach and letting my intuition tell me what to post and when. I get my best ideas at random times and when that idea strikes, I am quick to act and the content comes so easy.

I have been trying to approach life and business with more of an effortless flow. I don’t want to force things that don’t serve or align with me.

It can be hard with social media and how it provides a constant stream of inspiration to us. This can be so helpful, but it can also be harmful because it leaves us feeling like we need to do what everyone else is doing to be successful.

When I find myself scrolling and see an idea, I like to put it on the back burner and sit with it. If it’s something that excites me and I keep going back to it, then I will do it. If not, than I just let the idea go.

Enjoy the Journey Just As Much As the Destination

Lastly, a takeaway that I deeply resonated with as I am going through this right now is “the process is the prize.” Often, we get caught up in the pursuit of goals and outcomes, forgetting that the journey itself—the process of growth, learning, and self-discovery is inherently rewarding.

Trust me, I know this is easier said than done because hustle culture has encouraged us to grind as hard as we can and only when we get to the other side, can we enjoy it. I don’t align with this perspective because the journey is supposed to be fun! We get caught up in the desire to be where we dream to be and have everything that we dream about, but what’s the point of getting there if you don’t enjoy it along the way?

Each step taken towards our dreams, fueled by authenticity and determination, shapes our character and builds resilience. We become who we want to be along the way and embracing the journey allows us to fully appreciate the lessons and experiences that ultimately define our success.

Final Thoughts

Listening to Samantha Daily’s podcast episode with Jon Hillstead was a refreshing reminder of the power we hold to shape our own reality. By redefining our relationship with money, embracing moments of stillness, and wholeheartedly pursuing our ambitions, we unlock untapped potential and invite abundance into our lives.

As we navigate our own paths, let us remember that each decision, each moment of clarity, and each leap of faith contributes to our personal growth and evolution.

I encourage you to embrace the journey while we not only manifest our dreams but also cultivate a life filled with purpose, passion, and fulfillment. I’ll be right there with you in doing so. <3
